The school has shown success at the Division I level, earning 13 Conference Championships and 1 NCAA title, back in 1942. As recently as 2014 the Cardinal made the March Madness tournament, reaching the Sweet 16 before losing to underdog Dayton. The team has also appeared in 7 National Invitation Tournaments, winning the NIT title in 1991 and 2012. The Stanford Cardinal 2014 - 2015 Basketball Season

Johnny Dawkins is in his 7th year as coach of the Stanford Cardinal. Over that time the team has had some success, ending up with a respectable 23 - 13 record in 2013. That included a 10 - 8 conference tally that was good for a third-place tie in the PAC 12. Stanford narrowly missed being listed as a top 25 preseason API team for 2014 - 2015, and it looks like they could do some damage this year. But the team's non-conference schedule will include tough tests against UConn, Texas and possibly Duke.

And as far as conference play is concerned, the Cardinal will have to contend with perennial national champion Arizona. UCLA, Oregon and maybe even Colorado will have tough teams in 2014 - 2015 as well. Incoming players Reid Travis (PF), Michael Humphrey (PF), Dorian Pickens (SG) and Robert Cartwright (PG) will have to make up for the loss of Dwight Powell to the NBA, as well as several contributing seniors that left the team last year. A March Madness appearance in 2015 is a possibility.

Interesting Stanford Cardinal Achievements, Trivia and Statistics

After an easy first-round victory against Texas San Antonio by 26, Stanford was upended by underdog Alabama in the second round by a score of 70 - 67. That was head coach Mike Montgomery's 18th and final season with Stanford, and he was named Pac-10 Coach Of the Year.
